Fillers are clear gels that are injected into the skin with a very thin needle. The injected gel gives natural volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. A treatment takes about 30 minutes and the results can be seen immediately. The method is fast and safe and leaves no scars or other traces on the face. There are many different fillers available on the market and that we make use of:
Hyaluronic Acid
HYALUDERM and
HYAL-SYSTEM products are natural derivatives of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally present in the extra cellular matrix (EMC) of many connective tissues in the human body, particularly in the skin. Hyaluronic acid polymers are essential for the skin's metabolism, hydration and elasticity. Chemically, physically and biologically, hyaluronic acid is found in the tissue of all living beings.
HYALUDERM will remain normally for about 5 to 6 months or more before it dissolves into water and will not leave any traces of itself, whereas
HYAL-SYSTEM only remains 1 to 2 months and is really only meant to hydrate the skin and treat finer wrinkles.
Cross-Linked Hyaluronic Acid
RESTYLANE ,
TEOSYAL ,
JUVIDERM and other such products are cross-linked hyaluronic acids and are given an additive ingredient to change the polymeric structure to increase the duration of the product in the skin. These products usually remain 6 to 8 months, up to a year.
Resorbable Fillers
Resorbable fillers such as
OUTLINE are polyacrylamide (PA) hydrogels, similar material to contact lenses. The resorbability of the product in the skin varies from 1, 2 or 5 years. Eventually, enzymes degrade the product into smaller chains of PA which are taken away by interstitial fluids and excreted via bile.
Permanent Fillers
AQUAMID is also a polyacrylamide gel and a permanent filler which can be injected into lips and into sub-dermal level. To be exact, it is 97.5% water and 2.5% hydrophilic cross-linked polyacrylamide. It is highly biocompatible and for that reason is often used in Lipodystrophie cases. It is considered safe for facial applications of large areas where considerable facial volume has been experienced due to AIDS.
