About Budapest

According to the historical fossils, Hungary's capital - Budapest, was inhabited fifty thousand years ago. It has had its present name for nearly 130 years. Óbuda, Buda & Pest were separate towns until 1873. The Romans and the Turkish conquers knew well its cave system with medicinal waters welling up from thermal spring. 80 thermal springs supply 12 spas with 70 million litres of thermal water daily.
In any parts of the city you are fascinated by the history. During your stay you can find 2000 years old Roman amphitheatres or Art Nouveau style buildings from the recent past.
The cityscape owes its uniform appearance to the elegant mansions erected at the beginning of the 19th century in eclectic style.
The Undreground Railway (connecting the Inner City with the Citypark) was the first on the Continent and has been running for more than 100 years.
It's hard to choose because 237 monuments, 173 museums, 50 galleries, 35 theatres, 90 cinemas, the Opera house, 12 concert halls, few hundreds of amusement places and plenty of restaurants are at your disposal over the 365 days of the year.
You can get detailed information about these at the reception desk Budapest is cut in two parts by the Danube: Pest & Buda. Also important to mention Obuda (the oldest part of the city) and historical towns of the DanubeBend: Szentendre, Visegrad and Esztergom.
The panorama of the riverside (was made a World Heritage site by Unesco) fascinate millions of tourists, specially illuminated by night.
Those who don't fall in love with the city at first sight, they won over only after a few days stay and agree that Budapest is one of the most beautiful city in the world.

Buda side

Buda is the capital's green belt on the right bank of the Danube.
Gellért Hill and Citadella built on the top of the hill in 1851 as a millitary fortification, offer the most perfect view of the city.
In the Castle Hill you can see the Royal Palace, erected in the 14th century and rebuilt in baroque style 400 years later - was the residence of Hungarian kings for 700 years. Matthias Church has a tower of stone tracery, used to be the venue for coronations and royal weddings. Fishermen's Bastion with 7 towers built in medieval walls offer an excellent view of the city.
The residence of the President of the Republic is located in the Sandor Palace. On the north part of Buda are the remains of the Roman civil and millitary town of Aquincum with its 2 amphitheatres and an ancient organ.

Pest side

Crossing the Chain Bridge on the left bank of the river, you will find the city district with a lot of hotels, banks and leisure centers. From the bridge you can admire the Parlament built by Imre Steindl between 1885 and 1902. The Holy Crown and the royal insignia are kept at the place of the Hungarian Parlament and government offices. East from here starts the Andrassy avenue (part of the World Heritage). Under it runs the Milleneum Underground Railway. Both sides of the avenue are lined by eclectic mansions from the 19th and 20th century (Consulats and Embassies). The imposing building of the Hungarian State Opera House is also here. In the museum "House of Terror" the exhibition of the fascism and communism is presented. The avenue reminds us of te Champs Elisies in Paris.

At the end of the Andrassy avenue is Heroes' Square where Archangel Gabriel raises the Holy Crown to the height. Our hotel can be found here with a nice view to the square. Behind the square is one of the biggest green zone in Pest, called Citypark. The Zoo, the Funfair, Széchenyi Thermal Spa and the Skating Rink (summer - rowing lake) offer amusement in the Park.

Vajdahunyad Castle - a set of buildings includes the typical architectural marks of the historical Hungary

Also on the square stands the Fine Art Museum, containing the most important art collection in the country. On the opposite side is the largest exhibition hall in Hungary - Műcsarnok (Art Gallery) with its important temporary exhibitions.

In the Small Avenue, called Kiskvrzt can be seen a lot of famous buildings: Grand Market Hall, National Museum, Synagogue in Dohany Street (part of the World Heritage) and Saint Stephen Basilica. The Grand Boulevard, called Nagykörút is the heart of the city with shops, cafis, bars or hotels. Traveling in the city, it's very easy to reach any part of it with the public transport using the underground, trams, trolleys or buses. 25 kms from Budapest is the Hungaroring where the F1 is hold every year.
